Mr. Murphy has practiced in state and federal courts in Missouri, Kansas, California, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, Texas, and Colorado, and he has represented clients in numerous other jurisdictions.

Mr. Murphy has been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, the Missouri Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Wisconsin, the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Western District of Missouri and all trial courts in Missouri.

EDUCATION, PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS

Mr. Murphy is a summa cum laude graduate of William Jewell College and studied at Oxford University. While obtaining his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Forest W. Hanna, who retired as a Judge for the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Western District of Missouri.

Mr. Murphy has an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory which signifies that he is considered by his peers to be an attorney of preeminent skill with high ethical standards.

Mr. Murphy is a member of the Missouri Bar Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He has served on the Board of Governors of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which is an association of trial lawyers who have obtained million dollar verdicts or settlements. Mr. Murphy has served on both the Judicial Selection Panel and the Federal Practice Committee for the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

Mr. Murphy has lectured and published articles concerning personal injury, defective products, and construction disputes. He is the co-author of Expanding the Seniority Defense in Wage Discrimination Litigation, UMKC Law Review, Spring 1985.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Mr. Murphy was raised in rural northwest Missouri. He and his wife of thirty years, Cheryl, have three children.

Mr. Murphy was elected three times to the Board of Education for the St. Joseph School District and served as President from 1994-1996. He has been an active supporter of numerous charitable and educational organizations.

Mr. Murphy is an avid supporter of youth basketball and football. He has coached youth sports for many years and has led his teams to national and international competitions from Maui to London and from Minnesota to Florida.

Mr. Murphy has been very active in his church where he has served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and a leader of children’s ministries. He is also a member of Gideons International.
